this is the only picture i took on faux halloween night...

....it rained and my hands were cold. carson ran off with the neighborhood boys and nolan was in the stroller. sophia's costume was probably the highlight of the year for me. she was going to be a vampire but at the last moment changed to a.....kind of can't say it on the blog. she called herself a movie star but i thought she looked more like a....(can't say it on the blog)

school halloween

Isabella eating a donut on a string. I volunteered to do that game for her class. I'm sure the janitor's are writing me thank you notes this very moment.
Sophia figured out how to win.
our neighbor napoleon. he did the napoleon face the whole weekend. he never broke character.
bella and ella. bff's in the now and caveperson days.
neighbor swimmer. probably foreshadowing his future as a high school swimmer like older brother.
the world's most amazing clown and again neighbor.
our neighbor who saved his own money for a real byu football helmet. true fan.
carson, plugging his ears so he can't hear me tell him what a handsome ninja he is.
just our friendly neighborhood avatar. amazing.
50's girl and supergirl (aka nolan's favorite human ever)
go #6!
don't even get me started on what sophia "is". she changed costumes last minute.
a cute little lady bug and new big sister! we love chico!
a knight in shining armor!

i think halloween is my favorite crazy @#! holiday. (modern family) it really is the best. i especially love the school parade. i love cheering on my neighborhood peeps. i didn't put names for fear their parents didn't want their names published on my nationally acclaimed blog.

annual pumpkin carving....

uncle eric has kind of started the tradition of carving pumpkins with us every year...it almost didn't happen due to my lack of gusto this halloween season but we pulled through. it was a great night of baseball and pumpkins. sophia also got a pretend mouse from school and we couldn't resist doing a photo shot. nolan also loves fire. a pyro is born!

when you're the umpire of your son's game....

it can be kind of difficult.....when we showed up for carson's last game of the year there was no 12-year-old umpire to be found...( he probably knew i was going to punch him in the face)....and as fate would have it seth was the only one who could do it. seth had to call a strike out on carson and the other team won. i am sure it was really hard for seth when i had to punch him in the face. c'est la via.

weird science

sophia had a mini science fair for her class. maybe by the time nolan is in school we will be better at science fair projects. we learned about how water travels through plants (celery). she is such a cutie! A+

baseball...

so another season has ended for mr. carson king. this season had ups and downs but we were really lucky to have such great coaches and teammates. carson has improved even more, he is a super fast base runner, has an arm like his dad and uncle, and is an amazing catcher. my favorite moment this year is when after striking out carson called me to the dugout (he never does that) looked at me and said, "mom, i want you to go punch that umpire in the face"...i looked over at the 12-year-old umpire and asked, "why carson?" "because he called 3 strikes on 3 balls". i then told my son how that would be horrible to do and that he needed to respect the umpire's judgement. my sweet usually super shy son proceeded to yell for me to go "punch that stupid umpire in the face!!!" i don't know what was funnier, carson's scene or the thought of me walking up to a 12 year old and punching him the face.

please bless this weather never ends....

i just have to say that i love fall weather and yes even this amazing hot fall weather. i am trying to go to the park and be outside as much as i can because it sadly will soon come to an end. i love halloween, soup, thanksgiving, conference, fall tv, football (just kidding)-this is the best time of year....enjoy!
ps in other news nolan has the biggest front teeth ever. is it weird that if they get bigger or he doesn't grow into them, that i want them shaved? seriously...check out those chicklets!

ps i LOVE that he has all of those stuffed animals from lagoon....he is so spoiled!

first pitch!

seth listens to x96 every morning on the way to work. he loves the show. one morning while he was listening they mentioned that they were sponsoring the Bee's game and that it was kid's night and they needed a kid to throw out the first pitch. being the great dad he is seth called and got carson the spot. it was a really great experience for carson and our family. carson threw a great pitch. we are so proud of our little guy!

d-land

sophia and i went to disneyland for our birthdays...just the 2 of us. it was really fun and needed...i can't believe my baby girl is 5!

"the mother of all workouts"

so i have been doing p90x. it has been great. i have been posting on facebook when i complete the day and although i am sure it is annoying to some people it really helps me feel accountable for the workout. i have had a lot of people ask me about the results. to be completely candid i haven't lost one single pound-i have about 36 days to go so we will see what the final result is. as far as being disappointed, i am not. i feel so much better. i have never been very good at working out, but now the days that i miss or don't have a very good workout i feel yucky. seth and i have also decided to start running together so for the past week we have been running up to the lake and back (about 3 miles). it is nice to start somewhere is all i will say about that. each day we run i feel stronger and better and look forward to having it be "cake". i know there will be chuckles at this but turning 30 and having my fourth baby really waged war on my body. it is crazy how fast your metabolism can slow down. but as i look at my stretch marks and imperfect body i don't see ugly i see "war wounds" (as my cousin maggie calls them). i see isabella, carson, sophia, and nolan-and i'm grateful.

baptism

carson got baptized. we are so proud of him. there is something so great about carson. he has such a peaceful way about him. he doesn't like a lot of fanfare or attention. he is confident in who he is. i love our little guy so much!
ps i LOVE that seth doesn't wear the jumpsuit.

'roids rage.

so i think there is something wrong with me. i am too cynical. i just read the archives of my blog and although there have been a lack of posts lately, the posts there have been have anything but fun or more of a "make fun" tone. i have decided the reason i am this way is because of my thyroid. yes peeps, i have a problem with my thyroid. it sucks. i am blaming everything on it. my grumpiness will henceforth be called "roids rage". if i unfriended you on facebook or didn't say hi to you at the store, this is why. please understand.
in all seriousness i want to get back on track of chronicling the lives of our busy family. so get ready for some bragging and boasting (which are the same thing-fyi). its time to turn the page.
and finally to address my commenter's:
1. i am so worried about those of you who are in prison and need my help! please leave some kind of clue and i will call the authorities right away!
2. to those of you who say my blog is popular-thanks! i will click on your ads later!
3. thanks for offering us "enhancement" pills. i think the 4 kids should prove that we don't really need help in this area yet. i'll hit you up in a couple of years.

.....oh shoot there i go again. cynical as ever. at least i recognize, right? stupid roid.

xoxo.

beat/win

something seth and i love to do is discuss sports. not really. the teaser in me actually does like to ask seth sports questions. it drives him nuts. i am amazed with the amount of baseball i have watched and still there are things i don't know. for example, i learned the other day that the phrase, "you won the yankees" is incorrect the correct phrase is, "you BEAT the yankees". seth explained the reasoning is that if carson's team "won" the yankees, we would need a bigger car to bring the team of 8-year-olds home. makes sense. it really got me thinking about the motivation teams would have if they really did "win" the players. not just on a little league level but imagine on a professional level-in any sport. say that if a team "won" the lakers you could choose a player from the lakers to be on your team...mind blowing.

look away crazies! i'm not private anymore!

so i'm not going to have a private blog anymore. there is only one reason. i am currently at my sweet grandma boyle's house and she wants to see my blog and this is the best way. wish me luck.

year(s) gone by....

nolan is 1 today. although he is my 4th baby i have reflected on this past year today and felt sad. let me clarify that i am happy he is one and healthy. i feel so blessed that he has been such a content healthy little boy. i am sad because time moves so fast. if the song "time in a bottle" came on i would burst into tears. he is such a sweetie, we love him so much. it almost feels like new years and time to make resolutions for an even better second year for nolan. here's to a year of making more time for 4 beautiful kids....

life.

its going to fast! isabella turns 10 on monday! needless to say, i am beside myself. i can't imagine how fast the next ten years will go by and then she will be...don't even say it. life is crazy that way. i was looking at my baby today and he is starting to look like a toddler and i just wanted to cry. i just feel like i can't keep up, ya know? i feel like if i blink i will miss it all. i really need to be better about slowing down and enjoying every moment.
today we went to "how to train your dragon" for the second time. i am not a second time kind of girl. i don't re-read books or re-watch movies (only "she's the man") but this movie is really special. i am so amazed by the writers who crank this stuff out. how would it be to have THAT story in your head? i love to write and would love to write a story but i think i must be on the editorial side because the only stories i can think of are already written...i would just tweek them and re-write them.
i love thinking about my ideas for books/stories because i crack myself up. not because they are hilarious ideas but because they are horrible ideas. i could write a really good book with the narrator being an old grandma who gets annoyed by teenagers. hahaha....seriously that is all that i can think of and i think that is funny-not in a "pity me, i don't have any ideas way" but a "i can't believe i can't get some kind of crazy mythical character in some exotic land idea." i just don't imagine things that aren't real, make sense? i don't have dreams with flying pigs and rainbows-i dream about real people in real situations.
some people have nightmares about monsters. i have nightmares about living in nazi germany and escaping the holocaust. seth always ruins it and we get caught because he gets mouthy at the border. horrible, right?
i never remember my good dreams, probably because they are just repeats of my day..(get it? i "live" my dreams haha...) no seriously my realistic brain does not produce a dr. mcsteamy prince for me.
there are worse things in life, i guess. my baby daughter could be turning 10.
:)
